My original plan was to go to Honduras, but that changed since Honduras had elections and riots and it is too dangerous to travel through.
Groups of 12 ladies have to work together to get a micro credit, with the profit they help deprived children to be able to go to school. To first helping a morning in the class and after that tour through the village was really impressive, these people have houses made of wood with plastic garbage bags. But the children in this project they seemed so happy!
When I asked if there was a lot of machismo in this village Ingrid told me there is a lot of Machismo. Not just what you see on the streets but mostly domestic, she told me how every meeting for the parents there was almost only the mother who attended and barely ever the father. In the afternoon after seeing the village we hitchhiked back to Leon and there we went to a microcredit meeting, very interesting how these ladies interact and how decision making is going when a group of about 12 ladies have to decide.
And all the things they have to discuss. It took very long, but was interesting to experience for once. In the evening I went out, salsa Thursday! Every Friday these guys are going to play sports. The first round of baseball, 5 guys where sniffing glue.
After the first round they needed to give the glue to the social worker and the game continued. The second round I also joined and it was a lot of fun. While we were walking back to their center is when I could really talk to these street boys. All the boys started to laugh. I was so glad that I could experience this beautiful project with Will, he made sure I was ok. He made it easier for me to have a converstation with the boys.
